Special Cleaning Instructions

CELLULAR SHADES

Mild detergents–such as Woolite–spot removers, and dry cleaning may harm your cellular shades. Dusting and vacuuming are recommended for monthly maintenance. Spot clean with mild soap. For deep stains or soil, contact a cleaner from the certified network of ultrasonic cleaners. To locate a certified window treatments cleaner in your area, visit blindcleaners.biz or contact Graber Customer Service for a referral.

SHEER AND LAYERED SHADES

Dust regularly with a feather duster, vacuum with low suction or blow away dust with a hair dryer on a cool setting. Static may occur in dry conditions. If the front and back panels appear to cling together, an anti-static product (such as Static Guard®*) may be used to eliminate the static buildup.

*Static Guard® is a registered trademark of B&G Foods North America, Inc. Ultrasonic cleaning is also an acceptable cleaning method. Professional blind cleaners use a variety of methods to clean blinds and vary in their capabilities. While Springs Window Fashions knows that many of our window treatments can be safely cleaned using the appropriate ultrasonic or injection/extraction cleaning methods, we cannot guarantee the outcome of any cleaning services provided by an independent company

VINYL VERTICAL BLINDS

Vinyl vanes may be removed and immersed in water for cleaning. To eliminate static electricity, coat the vanes with a thin layer of mild detergent.

SHEER VERTICAL BLINDS

Sheer fabrics are steam pressed during the manufacturing process, but may need to be re-steamed at a low temperature before hanging. Do not iron out the permanent pleats, and be sure to remove the fabric from the vanes before steaming.

Sheer fabrics are machine washable. Use the gentle cycle with warm water and a mild detergent; avoid chlorine bleach, if possible. Hang damp fabric on the louvers and reshape them. To dry, keep the louvers in the open position.

NATURAL SHADES

Occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment will keep shades clean. DO NOT use water or liquid cleaners.

WOOD BLINDS

For blinds with painted and stained finishes, clean with spray polish or Pledge® and a soft cloth. For best results, never use water on any wood products.

FABRIC WINDOW TREATMENTS

Spot cleaning is not recommended for fabric window treatments. They should not be cleaned with water, club soda, soaps, or cleansers. It is recommended that all fabric products be cleaned by a professional drapery cleaner or dry cleaner with specific experience in decorative fabric window treatments.

For regular maintenance of your fabric window treatments, use the brush attachment on your vacuum and run it lightly over the treatments, including up and down the folds on draperies, to remove dust and particles. If draperies need more thorough cleaning, have them professionally cleaned.

SHUTTERS

If more thorough cleaning than dusting and vacuuming is necessary, use a mild detergent diluted in water to a 5% solution and apply with a cotton cloth. Rinse the area with plain water to remove any detergent residue and dry with a cloth.

MOTORIZED SHADE REMOTE CONTROLS

Do not submerge or spray cleaners directly on remote. Lightly wipe the plastic surfaces of your remotes with a mild soap solution using a dampened cloth.
